Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem
Protecting and Supporting the Holy Land

The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (Latin: Ordo Equestris Sancti Sepulcri Hierosolymitani, OESSH), also called the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, is a Catholic order of knighthood under the protection of the Holy See. The pope is the sovereign of the order which, with the five other papal equestrian orders and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, are the only orders of chivalry that are recognized and protected by the Holy See.

The order creates canons as well as knights, with the primary mission to "support the Christian presence in the Holy Land".

The order today is estimated to have some 30,000 knights and dames in 60 lieutenancies around the world. The cardinal grandmaster has been Fernando Filoni since 2019, and the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem is grand prior. Its headquarters are situated at Palazzo Della Rovere and its official church in Sant'Onofrio al Gianicolo, both in Rome, close to the Vatican City.

Our Knights & Dames

of St Joseph AACC, Pomona, CA

Sir  Jalal & Dame Nelly Rabadi [1996]

"We were introduced to the Order Of The Holy Sepulcher Of Jerusalem by our friends, the late Cal and Irene Elshofe, in 1996 at the time Father Labib was the Parish priest. We were the first ones from St Joseph AACC to join.  It has been a great journey for us to meet great people and giving back to the Holy Land. Nelly and I have dedicated ourselves, as many members did for 900 years, to personal sanctification, fidelity to the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, and most importantly, supporting the Christian Community in the Holy Land. We continue this tradition through prayer and pilgrimage, active involvement in the parish and diocese, and a commitment of financial resources to support Catholic institutions in the Holy Land. Financial contributions by members of the Order are used in the West Bank and Jordan to support; parish churches, community centers, convents, seminaries,  seminarians, clinics, hospitals, parish grade schools, high schools, and Bethlehem University, food, and medical supplies. This has been one of the best decisions we have ever made as a husband and wife. May God always protect the Holy Land and bring much-desired peace to the land."

Sir Rev Msgr Labib Kotbi [1997]

Sir Rev Rick Vandawater [XXXX]
